Don Williams Into Africa

Robert Pratt on behalf of Chimes International is delighted to announce partnership with YouLook.TV to stream Don Williams, The Gentle Giant’s 1997 concert “Into Africa”, filmed in and around Harare, Zimbabwe.

In 1997 Don Williams recorded two concerts in Harare, where “Williams had a serious following in Africa.  He was one of the few international country stars to tour the continent” (The Conversation).   The footage marks a moment in time, set against the backdrop of pure fans, the beauty of the surroundings and wildlife contrasted with extreme poverty.

Don Williams enjoyed many major hits between 1974 and 1991 giving him an impressive 56 chart record credit.  Fifty of these records featured in the country top 20, forty five the top ten and seventeen topped the chart.  In 1978 Don was the Country Music Association’s (CMA) ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and his recording of “Tulsa Time” was the Academy of Country Music (ACM) ‘Single of The Year’.  He was inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.  As an actor Don Williams appeared in Smokey and the Bandit, WW and the Dixie Dancekings alongside Burt Reynolds.—Into-Africa-Master
